A fantasy sports search engine?! Surely you jest!
Actually, we’re serious. In honor of NFL training camps opening up across the country this week (and, by implication, in honor of fantasy football draft preparations beginning across the country), we’d like to introduce you all to a new project we’ve been working on: Melgea: The Fantasy Sports Search Engine. Everyone, Melgea. Melgea, everyone.
Now that we’re all friends, let us tell you a little about the site. In a nutshell, it’s a search engine just for fantasy sports. Well, a search engine for fantasy football, fantasy baseball, and fantasy basketball. Basically, you just enter what you’re looking for (a player name, for example) and the site searches *just* fantasy sports sites, like the fantasy sections of ESPN, Yahoo, CBS Sportsline, AOL, and FOX. Out come your search results, with only fantasy-specific info to help manage your teams. No need to sift through the useless info you’d otherwise get (no, I don’t want to buy a jersey, thank you very much). It’s powered by Google, so you know the search results are legit. And it’s free, so you don’t risk any cash (on a related note, I cannot believe how many fantasy sites charge money for anything and everything they can – a monthly fee to conduct mock drafts???)
And that’s not all Melgea does. Using the site’s Player Card Search feature, you can quickly pull up any player’s game-by-game and season-by-season statistics. A great research tool, and you get all the different cards from the fantasy sites Melgea searches. You can also use the site to get ready for your fantasy draft by checking out huge list of free football, baseball, and basketball rankings and cheat sheets. When you need information straight from the horses mouth, search using the Local News engine to quickly review the local newspapers of every professional franchise.
In effect, Melgea gets rid of the need to bounce around all the fantasy sites, searching over and over for the player you’re interested in. It puts all in one place free fantasy rankings and cheatsheets. And it lets you research every single newspaper of every single pro sports team. A tad bit pathetic? But who are we kidding? These are fantasy sports we’re talking about, after all.
So please give Melgea a whirl, and tell your friends (we’ll understand if you don’t tell the rest of your league). Feel free to let us know what you think, and if you’ve got any suggestions.
